Working dog owners : We have experience working with working breeds such as German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dobermans, Schnauzer, Boxers, Cane Corsos, and other breeds commonly used in law enforcement, security, guarding and other specialized roles. We provide training to enhance their skills, including obedience, and protection work.

Puppy Owners: We offer training services for puppy owners who want to start their furry friends on the right path from an early age. We focus on socialization, basic obedience, and setting a solid foundation for future training.

Recently, I had the opportunity to work on an aggression case involving a 2-year-old Cane Corso. This particular dog exhibited aggressive behavior towards humans, territorial aggression, social aggression, and animal aggression. The owners, Sean and his family, were on the verge of giving up their dog and surrendering him to a shelter. They reached out to me at Ruff Resolutions for assistance.

I am particularly fond of this project because it was a challenging case that required a lot of dedication and expertise. My team and I worked tirelessly to help rehabilitate Nike, the dog, and resolve his aggressive tendencies. We implemented a comprehensive board and train program for a duration of 6 weeks.

Witnessing the transformation of Nike and seeing the positive impact it had on Sean and his family was incredibly rewarding. It not only brought me joy, but also made me immensely proud of my team, our philosophy, and the valuable work we do.

The most valuable advice I can offer to clients is to refrain from engaging inexperienced dog trainers, particularly when dealing with aggression or reactivity cases. Merely possessing a certification (even though I hold several myself) does not guarantee competence. It is essential to actively seek out a trainer who possesses both experience and education, as these qualities go hand in hand. Education indicates a trainer's dedication to continuous learning and staying abreast of the latest scientific advancements, data, and research. On the other hand, experience demonstrates that the trainer is skilled and proficient in their field.

JUAN:

Originally from upstate New York, has always loved dogs. But it wasn't until he joined the Marine Corps that he truly became passionate about working with them. While serving in the Middle East and Africa, Juan noticed how domesticated and wild dogs interacted, which sparked his interest in animal behavior and training.

During his military service, Juan had the opportunity to work closely with teams that handle military working dogs. This experience made him appreciate the incredible abilities and potential of these dogs. After leaving the military, Juan pursued a career in law enforcement and encountered cases of animal abuse and cruelty. Working with organizations like the ASPCA and local shelters, he witnessed the heartbreaking effects of mistreating animals. This motivated him to make a positive difference in the lives of dogs.

Eventually, Juan decided to become a dog trainer. He now specializes in handling aggressive dogs and has earned a great reputation. His military and law enforcement background allows him to understand and relate to his clients and their dogs in a unique way.

NICOLE:

A skilled, knowledgeable and experienced dog trainer, has dedicated her life to working with dogs. Her passion for dogs blossomed during her upbringing in a family that cherished pets. Being raised by Marines, Nicole had the privilege of experiencing different cultures and lifestyles while residing in countries like Syria and Japan.

Amidst the various changes in her life, Nicole always found solace and happiness in the presence of animals. This deep affection eventually led her to pursue a career in dog training. After completing her bachelor's degree in organizational psychology, she began working as a groomer at Ruff House Kennels. This role provided her with invaluable opportunities to interact with diverse breeds and temperaments, enhancing her expertise.

-Certification as a Protection K9 Trainer from John Soares K9 (JSK9), where he apprenticed under John Soares, a renowned K9 trainer specializing in protection and dog sports.

-Certification as a Protection Dog Decoy from The United Schutzhund Club of America and The German Shepherd Dog Club of America.

-Active competitor and certified decoy in IGP, a dog sport formerly known as Schutzhund.

When working with new customers, our typical process involves an initial evaluation and consultation to understand the specific needs and goals of both the client and their dog. Here's an overview of the process:

Initial Consultation: We begin by scheduling an initial consultation with the client. This can be done either in person, over the phone, or through video call. During this consultation, we discuss the client's concerns, training goals, and any specific behavioral issues they would like us to address.

Evaluation: Once the consultation is complete, we conduct an evaluation of the dog. The evaluation helps us assess the dog's temperament, behavior, and training needs more accurately. This evaluation may include observing the dog's obedience, reactions to various stimuli, and assessing their compatibility for the specific training program.

Customized Training Plan: Based on the evaluation and the client's goals, we develop a customized training plan tailored to the dog's needs. This plan outlines the objectives, training techniques, and timeline for achieving the desired results. We also discuss the available training programs, such as basic obedience, aggression management, or specialized training based on the dog's requirements.

Board and Train Preparation: If the client opts for a board and train program, we provide them with a list of items to bring for their dog's stay. This typically includes:

Sufficient supply of the dog's regular food

Favorite toys or treats

Any medications or special requirements

Collar, leash, and identification tags

Vet records and vaccination history

Any specific instructions or information about the dog's behavior or health

Training Sessions: Once the training plan is finalized, we begin the training sessions. These sessions can vary in frequency and duration depending on the program and the specific needs of the dog. Our aim is to provide a comprehensive and personalized approach to dog training, ensuring that both the client and their furry friend have a positive and successful experience throughout the process.

*Boarding*

-We offer a comfortable and safe boarding experience for your furry friend at $75 per night. Please note that a minimum stay of two nights is required.

-If you require our convenient pick-up or drop-off service, there is an additional fee of $100. However, if you prefer either service individually, the cost is reduced to $50 for either pick-up or drop-off.
